Savoury Flax Biscuits



Savoury Flax Biscuits
(This is from a church cookbook - the church I attended when I was growing up)

2 cups flour
2 tbsp brown sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup flax seed
1 cup grated carrots
2 tsp herb and spice seasoning
1 egg, beaten
2/3 cup milk

Mix together flour, salt, baking powder, and brown sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Stir in flax, carrots, and seasoning. Combine egg and milk. Add to flour mixture all at once. Stir until dough forms a ball. Knead gently 20 times. Roll dough to 3/4 inch thickness. Cut will cookie cutter. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10-14 minutes at 450 F oven until golden brown.
